One of my favorite sandwiches in the city. Soft or semi soft sourdough with Italian combo or salami is my go to. Big sandwiches, it gets crowded but worth it for a local sandwich. Great location nearby fisherman's wharf.

10/10 chicken salad sandwich on sourdough. I don't live in the bay but I am still thinking about this sandwich I had a few weeks ago...

Had to attend some training for my job that was held near Fisherman's Wharf. I didn't want to get food from Fisherman's Wharf since it's basically a tourist trap there. I'm from Oakland and wanted to get something authentic that's actually from SF. Got the Italian Combo in large with a bottle of coke. The size of the coke is not 12oz, it's actually less than 12oz in the bottle and it exploded all over in my car after the second time I opened it. Anyways, my total came out to $14.75 and cash only. Well worth it because the sandwich was enormous. I couldn't finish the whole thing and trust me I have a HUGE appetite.

LOVE Freddies! Small store inside, little seating area outside . Owner is so nice and friendly and i love coming here! Its a nice little gem in North Beach. We ordered two sandwiches Buffalo chicken sandwich on Dutch & Black ham sandwich on sourdough. So so good and fresh. Side of chips and a drink is a perfect meal! The sandwiches are super flavorful. Will be back!

Decades of Deliciousness! I've been a customer at Freddie's Sandwiches for over twenty-five years and live just two blocks away. When I wanted to update my review, I realized that the comments from my 2016 review still hold true! So, I won't repeat that they still make the best sandwiches for the price, but I will share that I've added their Club Sandwich to my list of favorites. Freddie's Club Sandwich comes with ham, turkey, and bacon, and you can add any combination of mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. The bread makes a huge difference, and if I may, I'd like to give you a hint: Go with hard sourdough bread, ask for it to be gutted out and toasted, and go light with the mayo. You will enjoy it. Their coffee is also pretty good. It's drip coffee only, but the owner is a coffee enthusiast like myself and always has fresh, hot coffee available upfront. If coffee isn't your thing, they have plenty of non-alcoholic options to choose from. Their deli salads are made daily and can be a great companion to your sandwich. The store is small, and there is no room to sit inside, but they have three or four small tables and chairs available outside if you and a companion or two want to have your sandwiches there. The owner seems very serious at first, but after chatting and exchanging pleasantries, you'll find that he's actually a very nice and helpful person, as are the rest of his staff. They sometimes fill in behind the counter if he's not around.

i would die for the italian combo with garlic and mild pepperoncini spread. still my favorite sandwich in the bay due to the spreads, shredded soft lettuce, and hearty sliced meat ratios. i try to visit every time i'm in sf! service is always great, I've called ahead and food was ready for pick up pretty quickly. They haven't forgotten spreads or toppings in the 4+ times I've been there, even when ordering over the phone 30 minutes before closing. ambience: it's a local gem in north beach with limited metered and street parking outside, they also offer free coffee inside. the chip and drink selection looks pretty extensive too!

I've been coming here since I was in middle school and this place is still amazing. The staff is super friendly and there's always a line when I'm there. I ordered a large hot pastrami with provolone on dutch with everything in it. From first glance it looks deliciousss, and it most definitely was deliciousss. The pastrami was so flavorful and with all the toppings and mayo and mustard it was top notch. My girlfriend ordered the cold turkey sandwich on dutch and she rated it very high on her list of best sandwiches in SF. Freddie and his business has been here for decades and there's a reason why. Overall, I would give Freddie's a 4.5/5 stars. Only con I have is that their sandwiches are on the more expensive size which is $15 with an option for cheese for an additional $1. But we are in North Beach and that's the price you gotta pay in a beautiful neighborhood!

Very quick service to get our sandwiches and well priced - the guy let us try the Dutch crunch before ordering. Definitely recommend the hot and mild peppers. No indoor seating, some outdoor spots but such a short walk to Washington square park.
